Being a student in the higher levels of education like college or university enables you to start flying solo. Spreading your wings without the vigilant eyes of your parents, guardians, or tutors is often a terrible burden and the young adult feels lost and misguided; especially if his or her parents avoided teaching topics that dealt with responsible choices in the practical way.

It is important not to loose sight of the valuable things such as moral and ethical education, but in the real world, it is often true that a moral and ethical person finds big bumps on his or her road. In addition, most adults learn that more often than not, the choices that a person has to do as a fully functional and productive adult have little to nothing to do with these values.

This lack of household education makes a student that just entered a college or a university education a perfect prey for loan sharks. Department stores and student credit card companies see in the young students a perfect candidate for their products, starting the terrible wheel of student credit card debt. Sometimes parents are more aware of the dangers that this new stage of their son’s or daughter’s life entail and try to warn them against signing to any and all application forms without talking to them or even reading through the entire document.

The student credit card sharks know this and are aware that when a student refuses to sign the application form is generally because the parents of that particular student already have a student credit card that allows them to assume tat the household income is high and therefore the commission that they can collect for themselves is higher. This makes them more determined to contact and convince the student to signing the application form.

They design a multitude of schemes and strategies to cause and provoke the student to sign the application form willing or even unwillingly. Of course, they are not bold enough to put a gun to the student’s head and force him or her to sign the application, but will seek additional ways to make him or her sign.

• One of these ways is to entice him or her with “visual” attractions

Using beautiful people and party-like ambiance, the student credit card sharks will promote their products amongst the student population. Being young and fresh out from the warm embrace of their homes, they are more prone to approach carelessly to the events sponsored and created by the student credit card sharks. Often approached by beautiful members of the opposite sex they tend to smile and mellowly accept all their propositions which, of course, includes the signing of the student credit card application.

• Another frequently used means is to use a friend, teacher or fellow student

Most students have financial problems; either because they come from unwealthy families, or because their parents provided for their education by means of a college fund but not much else, or because they misbehaved and their parents are punishing them by not giving them “additional” money
