When someone is in college, many times they want the find a job that they can use to have some extra money. Here a re a few tips on how you can find a job in college.
1.. The first thing that you will want to do is sit down and figure out what hours you can work and the minimum salary that you will want. Remember to factor in study time and sleep time when you are figuring out your available hours.
2. Before you go out on your job hunt, prepare your résumé. This way you aren’t going to have to do any waiting when you are able to find a job that is open. If you don’t prepare your résumé before hand, someone else might take the job while you are typing it up.
3. Check on the board at the student center because part time job that are available on campus are often posted there. These jobs include jobs in the cafeteria, bookstores, and in offices.
4. Check with stores that are close to the campus to see if they have job openings. A good place to work is somewhere that you can buy clothing or food for a discounted amount.
5. Look through the local paper and school’s paper to see if there are any jobs that are available.
6. Have a talk with the departmental advisor and see if there are any paid internships. For the most part, many majors require you to have an internship so why not combine work and experience? It should be mentioned, though, that a lot of internships are non paying jobs.
7. Always have a copy or two of your résumé with you when you go out. This way, if you find a job prospect you will be prepared. You can apply for it right then and there.
Jobs are a precious commodity when you are in college, so you have to be diligent when you are looking for one. Always be prepared with a copy of your résumé and be ready for opportunity when t comes knocking on your door. The best way to get a job is to be prepared and to show that you are ready, willing and able to work. Employers like people who are efficient and think of things before they are asked for them. A prepared person is a hired person.
