One of the most debatable topics in terms of college and university students is whether or not a student should or should not have a student credit card. It can be a good thing as much as it can be a bad thing. The actions of the student regarding the student credit card will prove or deny the worries and rejection that his or her parents had on the matter.
But despite their best intentions a student that holds a student credit card has almost complete and total access to a number of activities and actions that he or she can do without having to ask for their parent’s consent. So the best assistance that parents can provide their children when they are seeking to get a student credit card is to explain to them the responsibilities that entail having a student credit card.

One of the biggest responsibilities of the student that holds a student credit card is the social environment to which he or she belong. The use and access of a student’s credit card will give him or her a wide spectrum of possibilities as well as the chance of overriding his or her friends in terms of paying checks and the like.
But it is important for the student that hold a student credit card that this product can be of assistance at any point of his or her life, however, it is not a toy nor should it be treated with the same consideration that the student has for an empty can of soda.
Money changes people and part of the social responsibility that the student who has a student credit card has is to keep his or her head cold and his or her feet in the ground. Using a student credit card can position the student in a privileged situation in regards of his or her classmates allowing him or her to acquire and purchase items that are superfluous but still deemed as something that provides high status in the young adult micro-society.
The way to deal and solve this type of situations that will prove themselves to be dangerous for the socialization and even the personal security of the student is either to explain in a calm and relaxed way what the use of the student credit card should be or to provide them with an additional card. This last solution will allow both the parents as well as the student in a manner so that they are accustomed to the use of this type of banking product.
