School Days - Credit Haze
Hazing in college society has taken on a whole new meaning, and now the devastating effects are becoming life-long roadblocks to security. We aren’t talking about the typical hijacks of the frat boys anymore though. We are talking about the credit haze that is being lowered on all colleges on all school days.
Now the binge drinking is turning into binge crediting. Students are spending their school days in a credit haze of naivety. They are under a constant barrage of credit offers that open them up to endless amounts of debt. They are unable to grasp the concept of what that credit charge will end up costing them until they are already so deep in debt they have very few options to get back out.
This only makes the credit card companies even happier. They will continue to drain the resources of their clients, pursue them relentlessly for payment, and wind up extorting millions from the economy by focusing on the young college kids that are looking to find their identities and independence.
The hazing that begins in college is now following students beyond the campus and into their personal lives for years to come. The new graduate takes their hard earned diploma out into the world to find the job of their dreams, but then that credit haze comes back to haze all over again. This time it has an even more detrimental effect.
Now potential employers are searching credit history when they go through applicants. They are able to find out if the person they want to hire is going to be drowning in credit card debt, and therefore have the potential to become overwhelmed and steal from the company. They may have so much trouble paying their bills that their depression will hurt their job performance. They may have to work a second job to make ends meet, and they will be tired all the time and less productive.
This all means nothing to the universities and credit card companies that are making millions off their hazing routine. The bottom line is always the bottom line until someone more powerful makes that line mean something else. There are congressional representatives that are gaining votes by speaking out against this trend and proposing legislation to stop it. Yet these same representatives are funding political campaigns with contributions from these same companies. The hazing just continues, and the credit card companies continue to rule the school.
