Student Loan Considerations Part 2
Points to keep in consideration when trying to get a student loan
Part 2
Don’t feel self-conscious because you believe that the private student loan executive or employee “sees you funny”, you are defending your money and the money that your family has for their livelihood.
If something does not hold right to what you read about the law, ask the executive why does this or that is going against the legislation, see what do they have to answer about it and afterwards, discuss it at home and reconsider the decision made on the private student loan.
If the answer of the private student loan executive does not satisfy you, take your query to the Better Business Bureau and ask them to solve it. It is better to speak up than to remain quiet.
DETERMINE THE RELEVANCE OF THE DOCUMENTS
When you show up at the private student loan office to start the process of application for a student loan, they will provide you with a list of documents that they require form you. Once you have read the list, ask the private student executive in charge of your application which documents are relevant to your application and which ones aren’t.
Some student loan companies require additional documents to backside other documents, very much like a backup copy or additional reference. However, sometimes you have such additional documents in your personal file at home and sometimes you do not; it is when you do not that issuing procedures and fees might be in order. There is no point in wasting additional time and money in the issue of documents that are not relevant to the application for the private student loan.
XEROX, PHOTOCOPY OR GATHER TWO ORIGINALS
The private student company will require you to present a series of documents that might –usually- you have on your personal file back home such as birth certificate, high school certificate, and the like. In most cases, they will ask you for a copy and the original to verify that no alteration has been made to the document (such as changing your birth date).
Regardless if you need to surrender the original or not, try to gather additional originals of your documents trying to foresee that the employees at the private student company might loose or “misplace” them.
Make additional copies of all the documents that you are submitting in your application and make sure that the employee of the private student loan company signs that he or she is fully aware that you submitted that particular document either in copy or in original.
