The newest back to school item, the student credit card
August is just around the corner, which means it’s time to get ready to go back to school. Some back to school items include: new clothes, books, supplies, things for a student’s dorm room, etc. These are just random things that are necessities to anyone going back to school. Some parents, though, think their students need more and of course the students always think they need more, whether it is independence, money, or time. Independence is a great one to start with, and a student credit card really could help with that one.
A credit card is a card that can be used repeatedly to borrow money or buy virtually anything, anywhere (where accepted, of course) via credit. It is issued by banks, businesses, retail stores, etc.
The next portion of the concept is a student. Ultimately, a student is someone who attends and studies at some type of school, college, university, or otherwise. Thus, a student credit card is a credit card that a student is in control of. In those three words, however, comes responsibility, organization, and the like. These are the things you need and will get from a credit card.
Credit cards have their advantages and disadvantages, of course. However, there is only one person who can decide if the pros out way the cons and that’s you or your parents, or perhaps maybe the both of you together. Some things that you should keep in mind when deciding to get a credit card include knowing how much to spend even if you have a large credit limit. Also, you should know of monthly bills, fees, interest, penalties and restrictions. But that’s where the responsibility that hopefully students have by now comes in!
Getting a student credit card can be a great thing, with proper use of them, which means not sliding the card at ever store you walk into. They’re great for emergencies and all the big and small items you’ll come across that you will need as you go through life. Getting one can break, but hopefully make, your life. The decision about your finances, in this case, a student credit card, is yours for the making.
